Cleansing and Clearing
This practice is all about cleansing and clearing letting go of what no longer serves you and creating space for what you truly need. As you breathe and settle, think of it as gently shedding the weight of stress, tension, or distraction, and opening up room for clarity, calm, and focus. It’s a chance to cultivate a lighter, clearer mind.
How This Works
Cleansing and Clearing Breath helps generate heat in the body, strengthen the abdomen, and support healthy digestion.
Lion’s Breath is used to release stale air, awaken the senses, and quickly reduce stress by clearing built-up tension.
Interrupted Inhale introduces brief pauses during the in-breath, helping to expand lung capacity, build internal heat, and create more awareness of how the breath moves through the body.
The Five Bodies Meditation is a gentle practice of self-inquiry, moving layer by layer from the outside in. Inspired by an ancient Indian philosophy, it views us as being made up of five layers — like Russian dolls — each one bringing us closer to our centre.
Breathwork Practice
10 Minutes to make space and feel clear
-
Cleansing and Clearing
A breathing technique in which the exhalation is active and the inhalation is passive.
Bring your awareness to you lower belly
Take a long breath in through your nose
Contract the muscles in the abdomen in quick but regulated succession to force out short exhalations; the inhalation will be a passive reaction to your active exhalation
X 30 breaths
Inhale deeply through the nostrils and exhale slowly through the mouth
-
Lions Breath
Lean the upper body forward slightly
Inhale through your nose with your mouth closed.
Open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue as much as you can, curling it down toward your chin.
Exhale forcefully with a "ha" sound, feeling the breath come from deep within and passing across your entire tongue.
Repeat x 10
-
Interrupted Inhale
Inhale through the nose to fill the lungs to just one third of their capacity.
Take a short pause.
Fill the next third.
Take a short pause.
Fill the final third, or until the lungs are full with air.
Take a final short pause.
